West Davis Veterinary Center is certified by the Feline Veterinary Medical Association (FelineVMA) as a Cat Friendly Practice. Cat Friendly Practices must meet specific criteria within their practice to earn this designation. Our staff has been trained to understand the unique behaviors of cats and we use gentle handling techniques during your cat’s visit.
West Davis Veterinary Center joined this program because we love cats! We understand that cats are creatures of habit & routine, and anything that interrupts their routine can easily cause stress and anxiety. Our goal is to make sure the entire process of their vet visit with us is a smooth and comforting experience for you and your cat. We have a dedicated cat only entrance with a wall to separate cats from the dog reception area. We supply Feliway towels to cover your cat’s carrier which helps reduce stress from noises and smells. We have two dedicated cat only rooms designed to complement the unique behavior and preferences of cats. Our exam tables have a built in depression as cats tend to feel more comfortable in a semi-enclosed space. We also have shelves for the more adventurous cats! Our cat only treatment area is equipped with an anesthesia machine and monitoring equipment, four kennel areas, two of which have windows and a second story with separate access to an area with a litterbox. Our treatment area and both exam rooms have Feliway diffusers which emit an odorless calming pheromone to help decrease stress.
